  • See if it's possible to change your work schedule to better fit your life.  Examples include:
-Change to a 4(10-hour) day work week instead of working a 5 (8-hour) day work week.
-See if your company will let you telecommute from home 1 or 2 days per week.
These small changes will save time, money, and stress due to reduced travel expenses, travel time, and reduced traffic hassles.

There should be two educations. One should teach us how to make a living and the other how to live.
-John Adams

To find joy in work is to discover the fountain of youth.
-Pearl S. Buck

  • Use public transportation, if possible, to get to and from work. Not only will you be able to relax on the way to and from work but will save money in gas and car maintenance costs. Moreover, you can use this time for more enjoyable pursuits like reading.
  • Seek to do only work that you love. If it doesn't interest you or make you happy, then it is time for an occupation change.
  • Use all of your company's benefits.  If the company pays for bus fare, use it. Think of the savings in travel expenses. If your company has a gym, use it, instead of paying for a gym membership elsewhere.
  • Don't be afraid to turn your hobby into a small side business. Benefits include, making money doing what you love to do anyway, tax savings available only to business owners, and the possibility of making it your full-time occupation.
