live more purposefully and with a minimum of needless distractions.

Evaluate all of your relationships and
determine if you truly enjoy spending time with each person. If not, then
it is time to let some relationships go. People that you are only friends
with because of past shared interests may no longer work for you. It is
time to move on.
The real test of friendship is: can you literally
do nothing with the other person? Can you enjoy those moments of life that
are utterly simple?
-Eugene Kennedy
Don't feel like you have to agree to meet
someone or make time for them if you really don't wish to. It is OK to be
a little selfish with your time. There is a saying, "We spend time with
the people we love doing the things that we love." Use this statement
whenever you are not quite sure if you really wish to spend time with
someone you know. This statement will help you determine if you really
wish to spend time with someone or are just doing so out of obligation or
some other reason.
Schedule time just for yourself everyday
where you are alone. By detaching for a little while, you are able to
become rejuvenated and better able to give those you love your full
attention.
Do you categorize the people you know?
People generally fall into four categories: Family, Friends,
Acquaintances, and Co-Workers. Use these categories to determine how much
weight each holds and what its importance is to you. Categorizing
relationships this way helps you to set better personal and time
boundaries with those you know.
People who genuinely love you will be
happy for you achievements and sad when you are down or for you failures.
If there are people in your life who don't provide this kind of genuine
friendship, then forgo the relationship with them. Don't allow the
negative energy and influences of other's into your life.
